Oil Painting Still Life Progress

While the actual painting has not been started yet, I have already learned a lot more about oil painting than I already knew. Stretching the canvas was very interesting to learn, and even though that skill might not be used as much, it was still a good experience to have. I really enjoyed creating the spread of different colors that can be made with what we have on our palettes because seeing all of the variation and possibility was very exciting. My partner and I have also come up with the composition for our still life and started creating the base drawing. We tried to focus on the rule of thirds and having something that moved the viewer's eye around the piece. Creating the composition was difficult because the string of pearls move a lot and it was challenging to find a good place for them, but I think that what we ended up choosing was a successful composition. I look forward to starting the painting next week!
