For me, art is a way to express my feelings and views of the world. I create for fun, and I find joy in being able to connect my thoughts with the visuals I produce. Art is an outlet and I notice that when I create work, I am able to process and realize my own feelings about the topic or subject with greater ease. I hope to continue to make work that brings me happiness and helps me connect with people who have similar ideas and perspectives as I do.

I primarily work with mixed media, incorporating found objects with acrylic to build rich, interesting surfaces. I choose paint and paint pens because they are what I am most comfortable with and they help me to develop the vibrant colors that I want present in all of my work. I like to include bright colors and patterning, as they draw in the viewer and create the psychedelic and whimsical feel that I strive for. I also just find them really fun to use when painting or drawing. My work relates to music and that has a very strong influence on the theme, which often centers on the human experience. Much of the time, the theme I attempt to convey is inspired by or developed from whatever my favorite song is at the time.

My whole life, I have felt very strongly about the music I listen to; music has connected me to friends, family, and communities who love the same bands that I do. My current work explores the question of what really makes us human. Whether it is our anatomy or our ideas and what we create with our lives, I want to delve deeper into the contrast between the physical and the spiritual and I do this by directly juxtaposing elements from both aspects of the human experience. I hope that through my work I can make more connections between our lives and what we do with them while we are alive.
