In Class Project #1

For my first in class project, I decided to try painting on vinyl records; although the one I am using is not an actual functioning record, it has the same texture and grooves as a normal record does. I am painting a heart on it with acrylic paint. I'm not sure why I decided to paint a heart, it's just something I already have some idea of how to paint and since I have to work with the different texture, I wanted to paint something I knew I could capture. One of my biggest challenges has been working to make sure the paint isn't streaky on the record; the layers have to build up a bit before it is opaque. Overall, I'm having a really fun time experimenting with this process and I'm interested to see what I could do while having a record as my canvas in the future.
