Dan Kanach Lecture

I thought it was really interesting how he discussed the differences and similarities between art and design, because I often just group them together. The overlap which results in being creative within restraits shows how it is possible to have a certain style while being a bit more limited in what you're doing. I appreciated how Mr. Kanach encouraged us to keep participating because otherwise you don't know what could happen. His discussion of the path of a designer from being in school, out of school, and finally to the next job was really helpful, because it applies even now. Discussing how people go from there always being better artists to being the best in your field seemed very accurate especially in this school, where many people are extremely talented. Learning to estimate was definitely a lesson that I will take away from this lecture because time management in both art and other classes is extremely important and learning how to estimate how long an assignment will take is necessary for good time management. I also appreciated how Mr. Kanach made a point to say that he is learning while still having fun; I believe that is a key to having success in a job, and hearing him say that's what he was doing made it sound much more realistic.
